South Africa Flora & Fauna... A specially designed itinerary for our clients - as featured in the latest Robert Broad Travel Explorer newsletter Day 1 Fly directly from London Heathrow to Cape Town. Day 2 On arrival you will be privately transferred to The Portswood Hotel, located on the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure. Day 3 This morning enjoy an excursion to Robben Island and discover where Nelson Mandela was held for 24 years before being released in 1990. Afternoon at leisure. Day 4 This morning your car hire, a Toyota Yaris (Sedan version) or similar will be delivered to your hotel (delivery fee payable locally), take the opportunity to drive around the Cape, visiting areas such as Cape Point, Boulders Beach where you may be able to see the South African penguins. Day 5 Be sure to go and see one of the worlds most famous landmarks – Table Mountain. Take the cable car to the top and see an aerial view of Cape Town and Robben Island. Day 6 This morning drive to the beautiful wine region of Franschhoek. Stay 2 nights at Mont Rochelle. Relax and enjoy the peaceful settings. Day 7 Today you will be taken on a guided tour of the region and you will also have the opportunity to sample some local wines. Day 8 After breakfast drive to Swellendam and stay overnight at the delightful Rothman Manor. Enjoy an optional sunset cruise on the Buffeljachts Dam situated at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains, which offer amazing scenery. Day 9 Drive along the famed Garden Route, stopping for lunch at Mossel Bay and time permitting talk a walk around the Dias Museum. On arrival in Knysna stay 3 nights at Lake Pleasant. Day 10 & 11 Optional tours over the next few days can include a cruise on the Knysna Lagoon followed by a visit to the Knysna Elephant Park. Get up close and even walk with the elephants although this must be pre arranged. Also visit Plettenberg Bay and Tsitsikamma National Park and see if you can spot the Blue Duiker or the Cape Clawless Otter on the Otter trail. Day 12 After an early breakfast set on your way to the Eastern Cape and stay 3 nights at the Pumba Game Reserve. Pumba has something very special, in that it is home to a male white lion, recently they have had cubs that are also classified as white lion too. We have been told the service is impeccable and the game drives are outstanding.
Day 13 & 14 Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives on the reserve. Day 15 Sadly, today your trip must come to an end. Return your hire car to Port Elizabeth airport and meet your flight to London which operates via Johannesburg. Prices for this itinerary start from £2,339 per person (based on 2 sharing).
